Model Overview

The Huanghai Jiaolong Pure Electric (also known as the Huanghai Jiaolong EV) is a fully electric full-size pick-up truck produced by Dandong Huanghai Automobile Co., Ltd. Officially launched on 28 March 2025, the model is offered in two variants – "Chaozhi Edition" and "Fenjin Edition" – with official retail prices of RM219,800 and RM229,800 respectively. As the all-electric iteration of the Huanghai Jiaolong lineup, the new pick-up features a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery supplied by CATL and an electric motor from Xi'an Qingtai Technology, targeting the full-size electric pick-up segment.
Design Language
Visually, the Huanghai Jiaolong EV retains the rugged styling of its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart whilst incorporating distinctive EV design cues. Up front, it features a prominent black front grille with symmetrical mesh-pattern trim inserts. Lighting-wise, halogen headlights come as standard, with the range-topping variant adding front fog lights. Down the sides, straight, muscular character lines underscore its imposing full-size pick-up proportions. At the rear, it gets vertically stacked taillights alongside an integrated rear bumper step for easier cargo bed access.
In terms of dimensions, the pick-up measures 5,581 × 1,840 × 1,860 mm (L × W × H) with a 3,405 mm wheelbase. The cargo bed measures 1,815 × 1,520 × 515 mm. It has a kerb weight of 2,180 kg, a maximum payload capacity of 990 kg, and a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 3,495 kg.
Inside, the Huanghai Jiaolong EV carries over the brand's signature cabin design. The entry-level model is fitted with fabric seats and manual air conditioning, whereas the higher-spec variant steps up to synthetic leather upholstery, adding a reverse camera, built-in driving video recorder (DVR), GPS navigation, voice control, and a 6-speaker sound system.
Powertrain & Performance
The Huanghai Jiaolong EV is powered by a single rear-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor across the range, delivering a maximum output of 150 kW (204 PS) and a peak torque of 350 Nm. Power is delivered via a single-speed automatic transmission (fixed gear ratio), with a rated top speed of 140 km/h.
Energy is stored in a 77.28 kWh CATL lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, providing an NEDC-rated pure electric range of up to 400 km.
Chassis & Handling
The Huanghai Jiaolong EV is built on a rugged ladder-frame (body-on-frame) chassis with a rear-motor, rear-wheel-drive (RWD) layout. It rides on a front double-wishbone independent suspension and a rear leaf spring rigid axle non-independent suspension, paired with an electro-hydraulic power steering (EHPS) setup. Braking is handled by ventilated discs up front and drums at the rear, operated via a conventional manual handbrake. It rolls on 265/65 R17 tyres and boasts a minimum laden ground clearance of 170 mm.
Cabin & Equipment
In terms of convenience and safety features, the Huanghai Jiaolong EV range comes standard with essentials such as front dual airbags, rear parking sensors, and power-adjustable side mirrors. The higher-spec trim further adds a reverse camera, built-in dashcam, leatherette seats, satellite navigation, voice command, and a 6-speaker audio setup. Practicality is assured with its 1,815 × 1,520 × 515 mm rear cargo bed, catering to diverse hauling duties.
Safety & Driver Assistance
For safety, the Huanghai Jiaolong EV comes standard with dual front airbags. Active safety systems include Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), and Traction Control (TCS) . Its rigid ladder-frame structure ensures high torsional rigidity and crash protection. On the driver-assist front, the truck skips advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), keeping things straightforward with essential active and passive safety provisions.
Market Positioning & Overview
Following its official debut on 28 March 2025 with price tags of RM219,800 and RM229,800, the Huanghai Jiaolong EV entered the electric commercial pick-up fray. In this price bracket, its primary rivals include models such as the JMC Dadao EV (priced from RM182,800) and the GWM Poer EV (priced from RM251,800). As of June 2026, publicly available continuous sales figures for the model remain scarce, reflecting relatively niche brand awareness in the market. Overall, with its core selling points of "full-size dimensions + CATL battery + RWD layout", the Huanghai Jiaolong EV leverages its generous 5,581 mm body length and 3,405 mm wheelbase to carve out its own niche in the RM200,000 electric pick-up segment.
